FCC--Fremont Contract Carriers

I think I passed one of yalls trucks on the highway when I was coming home from Walmart. I had the cruise set to 71 or so in my pickup, but I know it reads a little high

 

Just a touch warm out today

 

They probably don't even know their cost per mile. They think run faster=more loads=more money... they forget those "extra" loads cost money to run, but slowing down and burning less fuel is free. Not to mention tires, oil, etc.

 

Were you the giant guy in a single cab pickup?

 

Very dependent on what you’re doing. Most of the time I still drive slow, but sometimes I have to run the speed limit. A lot of times around home I don’t need to drive fast unless there’s a cutoff for loading or unloading, or if a place is low on product. But some of the longer ones I need to run the speed limit to make it all work.

I can leave home, unload in Salina, go load in Wichita, and make it back up to Ogallala and unload before my 14 is up if I run the speed limit. That puts me empty in Ogallala an hour from loading the next day in North Platte instead of having to get there and unload the following morning. But that’s only one example that happens once a week at most.

 

Was it faded green with tinted windows and a chrome CHEVROLET decal on the tailgate? If so that was me

 

Delivered the rest of the load of poles yesterday morning just out of Atlanta. Load description was to unload at the corner of this street and the other. Contractors called me and routed me to a parking lot nearby to unload me.

From there was told to park somewhere north of Atlanta and hang out for a little bit. 2.5hrs later they decided to just send me home empty and to reload when I leave out next Wednesday. Pulled in the house before 4pm yesterday.

Well, yes... but running a bit harder to meet a schedule isn't the same as what I said about the big picture of revenue vs expenses, and knowing your operational costs. Yes, you get more revenue running balls out, but you incur additional expense. If you aren't careful, you can net less after expenses.

 

Pulling the lucky 7's trailer to start off after returning from time off. Maybe I should visit the lottery counter at the nearest truck stop
