Back in the day in temps like those, we use to idle up to 1000 rpms. Now the most I can do with these throwaway trucks is 790.

Use a poor man's winter front, commonly known as cardboard. Open the hood and put as big a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator as you can fit and close the hood. Years ago, with the last truck I owned, the thermostats were going bad and I couldn't generate enough heat to keep me warm when I was rolling down the road when it was low 20's or below, so I covered half the radiator with some scrap cardboard until the outside temps warmed enough. You'd be surprised at how little air restriction it takes to produce a rise in coolant temp. Just remember to remove it before rolling in the morning.

I’ll tell you what... I was just a bit concerned... I don’t think I hit real winter weather on 40/95... lol ... I think the only time I bumped the RPMs on the Volvo was to keep it running, not for heat... but that bunk heater would easily sweat you out of the cab.

I finally had to break out the winter emergency clothing and layer up, before going to bed... just in case... lol ... I’d hate to wake up dead... the truck finally warmed up around 2am and I could unbundle... lol

Had flashbacks of Winter Camping in Boy Scouts... the experience paid off. Thinking I’ll apply for my Below Zero Patch for 2021.

Does that help while sitting still or just when moving?

FCC will provide you a winter front for the truck, just ask the parts department

Freightliner only unfortunately. Head shop guy said it only helped driving down the road anyways, I didn’t feel like arguing the point....

My prayers to all those people that lost a family member in that big accident on I-35 Texas last week. Some others were taken to the hospital hurt I hope and pray for there recovery.
Oklahoma also has had a big accident were 10 people lost there life also. It’s been crazy all over with this weather!

Today I woke up at 2:00 A.M. house was freezing; no electricity and the temperature was -1 other places were worst -9, -20 ect. Electricity is out for many families in Texas. I spoke to FCC about staying home a little bit longer until I’m sure that things are a little better at home.

Considering how the roads are going to be the next few days..I don’t think fcc will mind you staying home..
