It's hard not to exceed the limits if you don't actually study the labels! Have you looked at the sodium content on a can of chilli lately? 57% of your recommended daily intake in one serving.. that means they used 1 1/2 TABLESPOONS of salt in that one can of chili! My God, I don't use that much in an entire POT! And we don't need to use that much to preserve it, so WHY?

Yeah, and just think, these are some of the favorite "convenience" foods in the truck stops our men frequent!

I can cook up and send frozen meals out with my hubby that have one fourth of the fat content, a third of the calories, and 1/20th the sodium, AND THEY TASTE BETTER!!! But the meals only last so long, and he is out of food, and has to go shopping. And what he finds to meet his needs is this convenience garbage.

You know, what we need to do is have a bunch of wives organize a "feed the driver" campaign! We did it on another forum, and it worked really well for awhile!

It started because my hubby was in MN, and hadn't been home in 6 weeks. He was whining about the garbage they were trying to pass off as food... I told one of my online buddies... She was 16 miles from him.. She took him a homecooked meal, and another weeks worth of frozen meals...and some extra little goodies..

Hers got caught out here waiting for a load about 2 months later.. my aunt and I drove 40 miles to feed him and stock him up. We had great fun with it. We ay never meet each other face to face, but we have put faces the names they refer to! And I know that Shawn prefers his chicken bbqed rather than fried!
