Iam a line haul driver,Ive been here going on 1 year,so far an good job.The pay is 52.05 an mile starting out, then go,s to 54.05,hook up and brake down pay-11.05,delay pay is 22.05 an hr,I have an bid road,I meet and turn.So 5 nights an week I do the same thing. They had layoffs here also, but at my center, there are only 2 line haul drivers, and Iam, no2.They are very hard on safety, logs, pretrips, they kept up there trucks, trls, dollys. The DOT hardly mess with us.Things are so slow ,man sometimes Ill go out 3 times an week with emptys. It took about a month for me to get hire, backgound checks, mvr.dac ex,ex.They made me hook up an set of doubles and thats what I did my road test in.Here at NATIONAL we do the 2 to 3 day freight,FedEx freight does the next day freight..

Most companies tell me as long as I can prove I am in the process of getting hazmat, I can start. I hope they're right; sitting at home sucks! -
Too bad you don't live near Philly, there looking for an P@D driver at the Westchester barn.

Keep trying, guys.
And it's true...the DOT generally leaves us alone. Example:
New Mexico. Green light 95% of the time. When we're red-lighted, the guy at the credential check booth waves us on through. If he's not there, we pull around...and no sooner do I step in the door than I hear, "Get outta here, FedEx."
We roll legit, and they know it. The lack of DOT/LEO hassles alone is worth this job. The killer pay, regular schedule, not running broken junk, not ever falsifying, hometime, and benefits don't hurt none, either. -
Hey penguin,
Do you know if they are hiring in Arizona?
How would it work if I got a job with them in Nevada, would i have to go there every day? -
There may be a major upheaval in October in our area, so keep checking. I don't think we even have runs between NV and AZ...at least FXNat doesn't. -
Thanks for the info!

Hints for FX employment:
You may have to suck it up and relocate. I live 100 miles from the terminal, and I just bought a small camper to stick in a trailer park down the street because it's cheaper and less hassle than going home every day. I'd move across the country to get a job like this--if your wife/husband doesn't have a lot going on in the employment field, you might consider it.
Willing to team? YES. Now, you most likely will not have to. FXN is cutting down on the teams, but it shows that you'll do whatever it takes to get on board. I did it for a year, and it worked out fine once I killed my co-driver and buried him in the desert.
Keep checking the website, updated usually Tue/Thur. Opportunities spring up everywhere at random.
It's the best company I've ever seen and the best job I've ever had. I applied a year before they called me back...and it was worth the wait.
