FedEx Sets 5.7% LTL Rate Increase

    [QUOTE]

FedEx Corp.’s less-than-truckload units FedEx Freight and FedEx National LTL have each set a 5.7% general rate increase, effective Jan. 5.
Rates for other operating companies within FedEx Corp., including specifically FedEx Express and FedEx Ground, will not be affected, though the company said in September that its express unit would raise rates by a net 4.9% in January.
FedEx Freight, which delivers about 80% of its shipments next-day and second-day, provides regional LTL service, while FedEx National LTL — the former Watkins Motor Lines, acquired by FedEx in 2006 — provides long-haul service.
