I want to hear what @boredsocial has to say about that. He brokers flatbed work now I believe.
I don't pull a flatbed and could care less what people are getting for that stuff except for the fact that they are staying out of the dry van market. I can't pull 46,000 lbs of crap.

I see $5-6k loads going to new england all the time, I don't have any interest in going there. No NY sticker and especially with the truck only tolls in RI now.

    Nostalgic Thanks this.

I never said 15k every week. I said I'm at just under 15k for the month of June. That includes the load I'm dropping of at 7 am tomorrow.

Flats are a LOT lighter than reefers and lighter than vans. I'm actually real heavy for a flat. Most guys can scale 48 no problem. Heck with my old columbia i could scale 50k of i ran at half tanks. An all aluminum trailer would shave 2k.

Edit to add: to clarify i am NOT trying to tell you to get a flat. I was responding to the part of the statement that only highly specialized hard to get into stuff is paying good.

Yeah I'm in flatbed now. Rates for flats are really high right now.

A lot of it is based on location, too. Denver market for flatbed seems a bit higher than usual, but not through the roof. The price to rent a flatbed for a month went up by $200 also.

Actually I did that for Celadon, as I know they are public. Their 2017 BOC lists 253,638,882 miles. Their 2016 financials lists total revenue as $1,065,356,000, which is $4.2 a mile. I didn't believe him either, but....

I've always said the mega pulling cheap freight thing is a huge myth cause the financials don't support it. However using celadon is probably not the best example considering they are currently in major problems with the sec for illegal accounting practices. Heck they had their stock suspended from trading not to longer ago.
