Remember that once you paid it in full and keep up your maintenance you are on the good track.
    It will get easier.;):)

I am afraid the truck he has will require too much maintenance to keep it on the road. Around 800k miles newer Volvo trucks start eating money like crazy.
He is on the good schedule to pay it off at 500k and trade it in like Megas do

Rideandrepair and Bean Jr. Thank this.

I calculate a 5y and older ,bought from new, paid off truck at around 1/3 to 1/2 the cost off a new truck payment.
    Provided you maintain it properly.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

It depends. To properly rebuild D13 it costs about $30k, to replace ishift it's $17k. Then you risk a chance of getting bad repair work, because of incompetent mechanics. I am not even talking about downtime and frustration.
I think it's way better to trade in or sell at 500-600k miles while there are still not many problems with the truck and it still has some value.

    Rideandrepair and Lepton1 Thank this.

I am not sure how much a crate D13 is. The prices I gave are what people I know paid, when their trucks broke down.

I have 234k miles on it.

At my pace, it will have 400k or less on it by the time I make the last payment. But we'll see.

Im at the Petro in Ontario, CA. I've never been here. I've been to the TA across the street, probably 14 years ago, when I was with PAM.

I forgot how much I hate California.

Both of those truck stops are way down on my list of places to visit. They are normally full by 3PM, even paid slots are full by no later than 4PM on most days.

I'm currently finishing up a 34 in the Loves in Barstow, CA, and will be rolling at 0500 towards Dallas.

Sometimes a soul talks to you from heaven through music. Sometimes a song will come on at the least expected and a memory will be recalled, or it could be a message of love. Glad you are listening some now.
