    @Diesel Dave ....

    I guess I need to clarify the "healthy" aspect lol

    Yes, fructose (sugars) are not "great", per se, but...when taken in moderation, and proper portion....I think @BoyWander would be just fine.

    1 cup of fruit cup/day...and an occasional doritos snack bar will not turn him into obese...

    Also, keep in mind, these are ALTERNATIVE to buying them from a truck stop. That's why I listed the price. I'm sure @BoyWander is intelligent to calculate the savings.

    Or, he can just buy fresh produce, which will go bad, and that, to me, is wasted $$.

    Having a snack while stuck in traffic will reduce the urge to buy truck stop grease food....while saving $$. That was my point.

    Also, I always believe, any food taken in moderation is not bad...

    Food, like politics, is often a highly emotional topic that is vested with a person's sense of self identity.

    I'm eating just fine.

    Had a problem with TQL today. Took a load that was "clean and dry" that ended up being rawhide. Maggots in trailer and now in Laredo in line for blue beacon. Have to get washout. I called TQL carrier relations and they agreed to pay for the washout. Just write it on the Vol when invoicing and a copy of the receipt. Not sure if it will get paid. Boss would prefer a new rate con. I would too. Carrier relations also said they'd send a message to the load owner to get it resolved.

    When I got empty in eagle pass, I posted my truck. Not 5 mins and TQL calls me asking if I would deadhead to Laredo and take a load to Los Angeles, CA for $1700. I was in such a shock that I couldn't do anything but laugh at the guy.

    So rates are crappy. I've thought about taking myself into areas of the country I haven't been to - like out west. Probably won't make much but I probably won't make much anyways. Might be a good opportunity to just do that. I don't have chains and am not sure which states have chain laws. And I wouldn't go anywhere that it's snowing. I can't go to CA because no skirt on trlr. Would like to go through NV and AZ. Go up through Las Vegas or something. I love the wide open. Nothing but me and the road and beautiful scenery. Of course if there's an emergency when I'm 500 miles from nowhere, I'm screwed. But hey.

    Thoughts on any of the above?

    Don't worry about the skirts in CA, worry about the rates. Bring your load out with you.

    California load board is sad. I was curious today and was browsing loads around la area. There was total of 8 loads under 30klbs at 3pm. Las Vegas is even worse.
    I've been sitting home in chicago since last week, can't even get 2$ per mile to go to florida.

    I'm hoping to hit the jackpot in Laredo tomorrow. $1.65/mi to Midwest is my goal. Not sure if I'll get it but hoping for desperation as things need to ship over the weekend. Not sure if it works this way. If I hold out for too long...End up here all weekend for a crappy monday load.

    No worries on the skirts. Its only mandatory for the Cali base. Words out there are more trucks available then loads. You know what that does to the rates. I'm a Flatbedder and run locally, last month I ran about 8 loads, this month so far 2 loads and been sitting at home all week. I have checked load boards and I laugh at what they are paying. No worries for me, I saved and was prepared for the rainy days, which is a fact, it has been raining out here in Cali off and on, construction can't seem to get going, at least the materials I haul. Not that I'm being sarcastic but "STAY AWAY" from Cali unless you get a high dollar load to get you back out as @2CAN posted. Goodluck....

    P.S. You can come out here and check out the wild crazy women, that might be worth it alone......
