I'm at pfj in millersport, Ohio and I think they've lost power. Been high winds all weekend. Most of it was at my back and I managed 7.1 mpg for this trip from Laredo. Only 15 or 20k of freight though. Wish it were better.

You got THAT right. I drove past many a brightly hued stinking river to review leather production overseas. I wish we would dial back the chemicals worldwide. Hundreds or thousands of belly up fish floating on the surface and still the locals are fishing to put dinner on the table.

I think you'll be fine. It's a lot of truck for a new guy with no trade in and not much money down, but hey the good news is you can live in #### thing if the SHTF. You can pay it off in a couple years if you dedicate your life to it and don't get bogged down in the crap that sinks most guys...living large with mortgages, car payments, alimoney, child support, back taxes, etc.

So you're saying that the op should have no life and just pay down his truck? Having a truck payment doesn't mean that a person can't have a nice home "mortgage " it's all how you control you're money.

For those that want to have something on hand to get rid of odors, get a product called Super Carpet Fresh or another one called Superfresh. The carpet one you can get in gallons or liters but the Superfresh smallest quantity is a gallon.

    http://www.eatoils.com/products/

Both will work. It is SUPER concentrated. A little bit goes a long way. The guy that turned me on to this stuff used it to spray EVERYTHING in a house after the neighbors house burned and filled it with smoke. When I say everything I literally mean everything from the carpet to the ceiling and anything in between. It took him 3 hours to spray the entire house but by the time he was done you could no longer smell the smoke.

He has also used it to deodorize his dog after it was sprayed by a skunk.

    65-72.

From Laredo to Dallas there was a strong wind at my back, and I was getting 7.8 going 68-70 most of the time. Some stop and go, I took the bypass around Austin.
Arkansas, the wind was starting to blow sideways, and then KY and OH going north it was almost blowing me onto the shoulder. MPG went way down. Wind makes a big difference.

I check out hint.fm/wind to see where the wind is in the country. It's pretty neat.

Right now if you're heading back west from the North East, you're gonna have a bad time...

The wind has been strong around here lately (KY&OH). I remember some nasty crosswinds on I-80 out in WY and NE. Talk about fatigue, I'd be ready to sleep for 2 days after pushing through that all day.

If he's smart that's exactly what he'll do, for a couple years anyway. Pay the truck off as fast as possible then buy a trailer and pay that off, then maybe relax a little or upgrade the lifestyle
