I edited that after you quoted it too. More gold in there. It's the truth.

Here's more, my friend...
whoopNride and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Im still sitting home in Chicago. Did two loads this year. Rates are terrible for dry van.
I know its winter time, but i could always get 2.5-3$ per mile out of chicago going to fl,co or east coast. Now they pay less then 2$ per mile for those.
Chi-west coast is 1-1.40$ per mile.
Brokers keep calling me offering 40klbs loads going to phoenix, nevada and cali paying $2500-$2700,and when i say that i need at least $4000 to go there they're like "wooow, are you serious?" -
The advice on load count in areas makes a lot of sense. I been trying to do some of that. Maybe I'll keep a list. Make another spreadsheet for it. I love data and statistics.Lepton1 Thanks this. -

All the snow bird are in south and Midwest stay around east, rates are better. Don't even bother looking west unless they are paying crazy money. Also you are new business, no vacation routes until save enough money.

I hate to say it but I'd probably specialize in Northeast/NYC/Long Island. Not the funnest place to drive but it pays the bills. I'd only venture out west of Chicago if it was time to go see Mommy for Christmas.

Yeah right, and deal with all that traffic and absolutely nowhere to park, I think I'll pass on that. What a nightmare that would be. Plus we don't have the NY HUT stickers.
whoopNride Thanks this. -
You don't have to have those anymore but they were cheap. I ran up there a couple of times without them and never got caught.
Lepton1 and CaptainDaveG Thank this.
