The whole $10k fine phone call would be laughable to you and me, but to an immigrant…? And they have others doing this stuff too? If everyone involved is from the same community and nationality?
Fined by my company, is this legal?

If there's one thing I've learned over the years is if it seems shady, it usually is.
Coolcrazydan71, TX2Day, Bean Jr. and 5 others Thank this. -
Hey guys and gals,
Hope everyone is having a great April!
I don't mean to be rude as I am new on here.
Getting ready to go OTR and for the life of me I can't figure one thing.....
If someone does go 1099,
2 questions
How the heck at even 80¢/mile,
3k miles a week, is this a good driving job?
It's pathetic. IMHO. After taxes and health insurance, a person would only be making around 50¢/mile if that.....
Is my math wrong here or am I missing something??
By starting an LLC, does this benefit you as a 1099 enough to offset the ridiculous pay?? I doubt it, just had to ask
One more thing, I am dumbfounded that anyone would work for that terrible pay if my calculations are correct.
Look forward to hearing feedback. -
These companies prey on the ignorant. I'm betting that if you threaten to go to their customers and tell them about the fraudulent DOT numbers, and about the "musical trucks", they will get off your back. You might even be able to collect what they owe you. A bully will continue to be a bully until he gets punched in the mouth. SO PUNCH THEM IN THE MOUTH. Tell them you are going to report them to the FMCSA, the Labor Department, the DOT, their customers, etc. Send them a DEMAND LETTER. Make sure you send it to their registered agent as well as to their home office. Send it via registered mail. This should light a fire under their arse.
One other thing...I wouldn't worry about anything in the "contract". If any part of a contract is fraudulent or illegal, it pretty much renders the contract unenforceable. Take the fight to them. Threaten them and make them pay you what they owe you.Last edited: Apr 14, 2024

Only fines i ever pay are ordered by a Judge.
Some places even put signs up, one is “No smoking on Property, If caught $250 Fine.”
Had a guy few years back try that, said he seen me smoking, I had to pay fine or they wouldn’t unload me.
I don’t even smoke, got his boss out, and he stood with employee, I had them write, Reject, called guys I get loads from(Tgey know i don’t smoke) and they reconsigned load to their competitors 6-7 miles across town.
That place still has no smoking signs, no fine signs, and will tell drivers if they smoke go hide in sleeper,
If i did smoke, I wouldn’t hide about it.MACK E-6, hope not dumb twucker and TX2Day Thank this. -
as for the pay, 50¢ a mile is better than McDonald’s.Coolcrazydan71 Thanks this.
