Before this I’ve had a Detroit dd15 13 speed which I drove hard. Now I’m pulling 100k gross and broke my transmission. Well I got all new trans and clutch and turned it up to 700hp aswell. My question is was it a driver error that I broke my last trans? I let it get to high boost lower gears too. Need advice on how to properly drive and handle this higher hp setup so I don’t break my new transmission or anything else now that it’s 700hp. Appreciate any advice first time Pete owner here

My Pete is around 700hp with an 18 speed as well. I beat this truck like it owes me money every single day. Big loads, short hauls soft roads mud and snow we get it done. Never had a single driveline failure yet. Low rpm torque is high and hp low. Higher rpm HP gets higher and torque drops off. My opinion low rpm and high torque is way harder on parts than high rpm

You have a 2050 rated drive line?

And yes do not lug that engine with a load and lots of boost…….

Just my 2 cents here. I have a 379 with an 18 speed as well with a 3406E. It hasn't been turned up, that I am aware of anyway. It is nice to have the extra power, and pass everyone on hills but there is a downside. Turning up an engine decreases the engines life.
I don't know what broke in you trans, but an 18 speed can handle 700hp with no problem
With the extra hp that you have keep an eye on your pyro on hills, don't ever go over 1000 degrees. Big hp builds heat fast.

My exhaust temp runs way cooler with my bigger turbo than the factory turbo. I don't even look at the gauge anymore

As long as you have the heavier driveline you should be fine.,,,Only problem I’ve seen is how his boost can go...,Couple of the men I know of blowin turbos cuz they chopped the throttle for what ever reason at hi boost pressure Blades can’t take the quick shutdown
    Tends to get messy

Thats good, but in the summer it will increase. I would pay attention to it on steep grades, especially long ones, thats what the gage is for.

When you mean “turned it up”, did they include a Turbo in the tune ? More fuel more air.

What exactly was happening when the transmission broke, and what parts broke?
