I can tell you that my brokerage doesn't give a whit about how long you've been in operation, as long as your safety ratings don't suck. As my boss puts it, everyone has to start somewhere, and we'd rather have a good relationship with someone from the beginning. Now, that's not to say that there aren't others that don't.

A few brokers told me that they couldn't use me because my safety rating was "not rated". I hung up on some and explained to others that nothing good comes from an inspection just higher insurance premiums

    DSK333 and PPLC Thank this.

    Exactly.

Some try to get you to jump on the load without doing the carrier package. Be very, very wary of such "quickie" loads.

I have refused 2 loads that wanted me to pull without doing the carrier setup first.

    DSK333 Thanks this.

That’s something I did not know. Had to look at some examples of those forms to see what’s involved.

We're fine with that. We just want to make sure you aren't getting popped for being a piece of poop on the regular, you know?

It is crazy how some of them act. You will be Not Rated if you have never been audited. I know people who have had authority for 20 yrs or more and never been audited. (Me included).so they show Not Rated. There was no new entrant audit back then.

DSK333, TallJoe and nax Thank this.

Some brokerage's have their contracts posted on their website. Knight Transportation brokerage is one I can think of.

    TallJoe and Sharky88 Thank this.

Good morning gals and guys. My authority has been active for 2 weeks. Ready to start hauling loads. Any and all help would greatly be appreciated. Who will work with someone in my position? I'm not new to trucking, as I've been driving 27 years, with 18 as an owner operator. Just new to the independent side of the game.
