I worked for them for two years. Made good money but wow do they rip you off. First of all your responsible for the first 1000 bucks of the insurance deductable on the tractor. You break it you buy it. Next they change medical insurance carriers every six months so you never get to use much of it. Very strange place to work for sure.

    OTRdriver40 Thanks this.

I interviewed with them about 10 years ago. It sounded like a lot of grocery warehouses, a lot of east coast, a lot of waiting untill the last minute to load and them having to hump 650 miles overnite in a 64 mph truck to do it again all over the next day. The guy in Nashville I interviewed with got really po'd because I asked so many questions. I left and never called them back. Also what the previous poster said about the insurance deductible. I questioned them about that and the guy got real defensive. He wanted to give me a road test and I said I would think about it and call them back.

One of my instructors worked for them. He said he made good money. He did a dedicated run to Krogers in Texas.

That $1000 deductable sounds weird. Too bad I didn't see this post yesterday. I could have asked him as I popped in at the school.

He told me one of the former students is working for Star. They told him no idling in this cold weather! Told them to take extra blankets!

Not my truck. Want me to fuel it too?

I signed it under duress. I was going to lose my house, I needed a job.

I worked for a fuel hauler in Florida once. They made us sign a statement saying we were responsible for our own taxes and we would get a 1099. I filed for unemployment on them when they unjustly fired me. Labor board asked, "did you own the truck? Then you were an employee!"

They are probably still in business. Their initials were Aviation Fuels. Probably still running their '72 GMC Astros

Back in the day alot of companies would make you pay the deductable on preventable crashes and damage to equipment. It actually makes good bussiness sence, if you are responsable for the deductable then maybe you will take better care of their epuipment.
