Hi Experienced Haulers
My name is Rob. I just bought a 2007 Ford F350 SWD Harley Davidson Edition. I'm thinking of getting a 4 car hauler and starting up with central dispatch hauling cars as I'm looking for a career change. And I want to be my own boss and hit the open road.
I just wanted to know what is required to get started? Do I need a CDL if I am not hauling over 26,000lbs?
Do I need a DBA / Business EIN number for Central Dispatch?
Do I need a DOT physical?
Does my company name and number need to be on the truck and trailer?
Anything else you can think of that I need just to get started please let me know?
I beleive the GCWR is 26,000lbs the GVWR is 11,500lbs

In short yes you do.
-
If your combination of truck and trailer has a gvwr of 26001# or higher, or the trailer itself has a gvwr of over 10000# you will need a class a cdl.
-
at least in Ohio you can use that rig to take your driving test and get a class a cdl then take a written air brakes test and go drive semi
-
if you are close to elkHART indiana they are desperate to hire driver's for camper/ rv delivery those guys make as much as semi driver without the bs even if you live far from there it still might pay taking loads to where you live be worth calling them can find out where on the Internet
