Flappy Bird dead

I read the news as well. The creator is in Vietnam, and he found that as a one man show it was overwhelming. I can't imagine what kind of lifestyle he could live on $50K per day in Ho Chi Minh City!!!???? Last time I was there about 8 years ago you could rent a nice 4000 square foot American style home, with a maid, cook, and gardner, all for about $2000 per month.

Perhaps he was overwhelmed by local government officials looking for "charitable contributions"....

 

Or perhaps it was copyright infringement...

 

The creator was making $50k/day.
But...He was facing a lot of criticism from the gaming community about what a cheap rip off of legacy games it was; frankly it's a bit ridiculous and I for one feel a bit dubious as well.

The kid lives in Vietnam, and we all know how much free enterprise is respected within that particular civic governing society.
Also, it can be safely assumed he's amassed a good bit of money. We can't forget, $50,000 usd in Vietnam is nearly a kings ransom.

If you look here, you'll find the average costs of living in Vietnam.

Scroll down a few columns and see what it says how much it costs to BUY (not rent, but actually purchase) a mid-range apartment. "34,587,378 Vietnamese Dong.
34,587,378 Vietnamese Dong, comes out to about $1,625 US dollars.

Food, entertainment, luxuries; they're all cheaper than hell.

Commies probably gave him an ultimatum. "Shut up, keep some money and live. Or don't.'

 

IMHO Vietnam is a funky hybrid of communism (thuggism) and capitalism. There's a lot of entrepreneurial energy with this weird layer of communist overlords that basically suck the payola from the system. I can't imagine the stress he must have been under trying to cope with that communist layer.

 

It's not completely dead yet, you can still play it online at a few sites that JUST popped up once the developer removed the game. I'm so bad at reading the rules here, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link them, let me go read those rules and I'll be back

How many smartphone screens have been destroyed playing it?

 

Ipad's with flappy bird installed selling on ebay for up to 80k! I have 4 ipads and thought about listing all of them :O 320k....hummmm maybe if they start selling at that price I will....lol

 

I've only seen screen shots and I don't really play phone games. I guess Nintendo could maybe make a case if they wanted to. The pipes look identical to super Mario brothers. That's probably a stretch though.
