I was just thinking about open deck trailers and the securement process and wondered why open deck trailers don't have their own CDL endorsement like say tankers? Not that we need more regulations, it was just a thought. What do you think?

why ? so they can ring up the cash register? the less government intrusion into your life the better .....let sleeping dogs sleep ...in my early years of driving there were no cdl's and we all did just fine....just another way to pick your pocket

You know after thinking on this. it might be a good idea. I had a person come over to me one day while loading at the mill. He has a ciol rack in his hand and ask me where do i put this on the trailer and all i do is sit the coil in it right? I told him no that he needs at least three of them and two beveled 4x4's with at least 4 chains depending on the size of his coil could be more. He then looks at me and says well this is all i have and i have no chains only straps. I was like you got to sh#%ing me

It's another stupid idea that would allow the cretins in Washington to further ruin an industry that was fine before they stuck their collective noses into it!

Hell No! We don't need more help from idiots that just want our money!

If we are going that far then we should require oversize endorsements also, because there are some real winners running around without lights, signs, flags or permits.

Yes they did....Because the local morons were running around with coils that were tied down with one chain because they "been doin' it that way for years!"
The new "training" and "certification" is a stupid waste of time and money for anyone that has a lick of sense.

There are already laws on the books pertaining to load securement that cover all of these problems and yet there are still morons out here that think we need a bunch of new redundant rules and regulations that will only cost us more time wasted and more money wasted to do what we are already required to do.

Of course these are the same idiots that think that they have to stay in the sleeper or sit in the passenger seat when they are on a reset otherwise thay must log "on duty not driving" or they might get a ticket....:biggrin_25523:

    We're a tank carrier but we do have 1 flatbed load . Dispatch asked me if I'd take it a few months ago . I said "Sorry , I don't have a flatbed endorsement " "Oh , o.k. " :biggrin_2559:
