Flock Cameras Losing Popularity

Kentucky police officer Asad Zahir claimed he made 2048 Flock searches to track two vehicles for drug investigation. He was tracking his ex-girlfriend - The Times of India

 

Valley County NE has a population of roughly 4100. The city of Ord is about 2400 people. The county owns the Flock cameras but the city is yanking out the ones within city limits. A report showed that over 3000 agencies accessed the data from Valley County over 450,000 times in a 30 day period.

Some is seriously wrong when you have a county where literally half of the population lives in just one town and said county wants to use it as a cash cow!

 

That's insane. I rode along 56 in KS the other day. There were probably more cameras on that road than I've seen anywhere. And cameras were facing each other from east and west lanes, always a pair of cameras

I'm assuming while one gets a pic of the back of the vehicle, the other gets one of the front.

 

It’s just your average rural county in Nebraska. In the article it says the local sheriff searched the cameras 60 times in 30 days, versus more than 450,000 times by others. But there are still people who don’t think they’re used for surveillance.

 

It's because they're trying to make sure you can't take them down without being identified. Oh, silly me, they can only read license plates and totally can't identify humans at all...

 

I wonder if that’s one of their busy days or slow days!lol
