Maybe this is why they didn’t care to learn how to actual scale a spread axle trailer ‍♂️

In a little over a month, the last remaining casino in Primm, Nevada, will close, creating what could become a new desert ghost town along the Nevada-California state line.

However, that may not be Primm’s last stand.

According to The Nevada Independent, a Las Vegas-based truck stop owner, LV Petroleum, has proposed taking over “the whole exit” along Interstate 15.

CEO Kristopher Roach, whose company operates 76 TA TravelCenters nationwide, told the outlet he has been in talks with Affinity Gaming and the Primm family about keeping the Flying J truck stop and adjacent facilities open.

“We don’t want it to go dark. We don’t want to lose the employees,” Roach said. “We have a huge interest in the market. We’ve had a couple of meetings.”

Under the proposal, the Flying J would be rebranded as a TA TravelCenter. Roach also said the company would like to reopen Whiskey Pete’s Hotel and Casino, which shuttered in December 2024.

They're going to need a lot of capital. When I was there 2.5 years ago the truck stop building was dilapidated. The 'casino' was all video poker/slots, and the carpet showed where the table games used to be. The whole place reeked of desperation and failure.

LV Petroleum has very deep pockets. They are the company that bought the Oasis Travel Center in Robertsdale, Ala., paved the entire parking lot and rebranded it a TA. They are serious about operating truck stops. I hope that they do take over the whole exit and maybe they will tear down the dilapidated buildings and put up new ones. Can't wait to see what happens.

A driver I used to run with ( Loads of II/V Cement) to Vegas, stopped there and rode that coaster several times back in the day, was really quite scarry. The Buffet breakfast was like 250 or 3 bucks including the omlet station. Probably back in 2005 or 2006.
