So they finally realized that the only way livestock hauling can be done efficiently is to cheat on the hos rules.
And they also figured out that it is very hard to cheat on an eld so they made a rule that livestock haulers can use paper logs so it’s easier for them to cheat the hos rules.
    But it’s all about safety....
    Yea sure it is...

It only says until further notice. They will eventually be on elogs too. Or.......the big companies will begin a livestock division....some already have. Then that will push the elog mandate into the livestock industry.

The Federal Motor Carier Safety Administration (FMCSA) quietly announced this week...

    Yes, I'm sure they did.

And then when they're paying for dead animals at 1200 and up a head they'll realize why you can't park a truckload of cows for 10 hours. That and 90% of the people the big fleets hire wouldn't make it off the driveway of places I've seen without tipping it over in the ditch.

I'm sure the "know it all's" at the top would figure it out somehow. Then there would be some clown that would suggest putting a cow in a reefer and setting it to 55

Because livestock can’t sit for ten hours then the only logical answer is if it is about SAFETY is to run team operations so they can keep moving.
There are many specialty loads that are not allowed to sit
Some examples are some pharmaceuticals, arms and other government loads.
These loads are run by team operation and the hos safety factor remains intact no problem.

Sad thing is, there is a simple solution. It will cost money, so no one wants to do it. Instead of making them sit in a cramped trailer for 10 hours, the livestock industry can lobby to build barns built to offload the animales.

Make it a service where the barn feeds, waters, and generally makes the animal regain some of the weight they lost on the 10 hour drive they just took.

Heck, something is seriously wrong with that segment of the industry if they still have HOS issues after being gifted with the first 150 miles free.

Can you imagine 95% of the seat warmers today picking up at a sale barn at midnight alone with no help? A charlois bull and some 1000 lbers in the nose, split the top deck, couple angus in the jailhouse. Split the bottom, some more field cows on the tail end. I am sure it would get loaded correctly and delivered safely.
