I think anyone with more than about a years experience realizes this is mostly a racket. I’ve heard of 3 plans that a guy could actually complete. Most guys aren’t disciplined enough even at those 3. Shout out to runningman at FCC.

Do I understand this correctly?
The Federal Motor Carrier SAFETY Administration wants to dictate the voluntary legal contractual terms between a business and an adult over the age of 21.
The next logical step for them is to call for the outlaw of all owner-operator lease agreements because their "task force" have deemed them substandard.
Exactly how does this affect safety?
If the FMCSA wanted to affect safety in this area of the industry, they should audit those companies engaged in the practice.
If they are not meeting the regulatory standards, then take appropriate punitive action.

Try going to your bank instead reason being when something gose wrong with you and the company for what every reason you still have the truck and maybe lease onto another company.
Cause when you lease purchase through the company direct theres a great chance you will never own said truckBean Jr., Short Fuse EOD and Long FLD Thank this. -
I’ve asked this numerous times in another thread here and nobody has given an answer.
Where should the line be drawn when it comes to protecting people from their own choices?
I’m not pro-lease/purchase. I simply think people are responsible for their choices. Payday loans are predatory and legal with the exception of a few states. People get into credit card debt at 25% interest or more. A disproportionate number of lotto tickets are sold in poorer neighborhoods compared to wealthier neighborhoods. People lose their life savings in casinos.
So where should the line be if lease purchase plans go away?Accidental Trucker, D.Tibbitt, AModelCat and 2 others Thank this. -
Raising the cost of putting a driver in the seat would put some upward pressure on freight rates though.
