Food poisoning while on the road.

That's been my biggest fear when I was OTR. Luckily Both times I've had it were when I was off duty, both times from meat from Walmart and it was the 24 hour version, but the last one , part of it was 5 hours in a stall at the pilot in Bringham city, utah. Got hit by it when I was helping a friend get firewood up in the mountains. Took 12 hours to drive 100 miles home.

 

I got it once at an upscale Mexican restaurant at college. I ordered chicken fajitas, and one bite I sent it back to get cooked. But the damage was done!

Oh lord, I was saying in the shower as I kept throwing up, take me now!

 

Imodium is sold at a lot of places including many Truck Stops. Read the Warnings and do NOT take for more than two days. I used it once and it was the best product I've ever seen. Felt good in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later I was totally fine and it was hard to believe that I was sick a few minutes earlier. I used the tablets. It's also made in caplets and a liquid. It may not work for every case of illness but it sure worked for me. Definitely worth checking out.

 

Ive had it a few times over the years from eating stupid stuff like raw clams but nothing like what I had right around this time last year. Only lasted a day and a half but I threw up every 15 minutes all night along with diarrhea. Was so bad it got to the point I was having trouble breathing from dry heaving so much.

 

A few years back I went to meet a bunch of my drivers at a famous truck stop out in Iowa, after driving two 12 hour shifts, I get there and has something to eat at their world famous fast food emporium. I didn't get sick right away, it took about three hours and then it hit me. I was soooooo happy I had my camper in the back of my pickup and it had empty black water tank.

 

I wonder if Mexicans get food poisoning?

Sorry to hear OP..... about a month ago I got a salad at the buffet at the Petro in Mebane NC.... I ate 4-5 bites and immediately had to use the bathroom.... I was in the with severe nausea and the runs. I just wanted to throw up and be done with..... was in the bathroom roughly 2 hours total within 3 hours. My hole was so sore..... I felt like I was peeing out my rear...

 

Only when they travel to the U.S.
