Hi. Just moved to Frederick MD and planning on getting into O/O in few months, need advice on truck shops, parking and how is the Maryland market for DryVan, rates to get out of area and to return.

Does it consider a good or bad market?

I would suggest practicing on someone else's truck for a year or two before buying your own but its your dream if you can't see yourself doing anything else just keep in mind your learning curve will be steep . There are not many places to park in Fredrick md you may have to contact some storage places and see if they have a space for rent that will work or.if you can get permission to park at the travel lodge they have truck parking you will probably have to pay rent and I have parked at walmart but if you leave the truck there for a weekend it might get towed there is a decent amount of freight coming out of maryland and virginia its been my operating area for a long time and if your not afraid of going north you will do ok finding loads

    tserberis Thanks this.

There's a whole bunch of discussions about this.
It's the same thing as buying a business about which you know nothing!
Example... you may be the world's best car salesman, but do you have any idea how to run a dealership? Get financing for the cars? How to have the shop and mechanics running at a profit? How to keep good salespeople? How to keep track of the accounting? How to get customers? Same principles..... and it's not as easy as it sounds!
Do some searching on this forum and READ READ READ!
Good luck. sounds like you're going to need it!

    muledriver thanks for your input.

For everybody, if you'd like to help stay on topic please!

I didn't ask to give me advice on starting up a business nor I asked your opinion about my abilities or knowledge.

I didn't say I will buy truck right away, I am just doing research about my area and doing necessary preparations for future.

    Thank you.
