Why did the trucking industry get deregulated ?
    Deregulation started under Jimmy Carter.
The economy was in bad shape. Even a dim bulb like Carter knew how to get the economy going again , deregulate and lower taxes. I’m sure he did not like it but he knew it had to be done.

Also...were you able to work all year long clearing what....$150 k back then at those rates or the work volume was limited?
Was it easy to buy a truck and lease on, the way it is today?
    Anyone could do it?
Finally, since the money was so good how many of you became rich before the deregulation?
What did the drivers make? 12c per mile or maybe 20 c per mile? Drivers shortage?
    Sorry to ask so much.
    It is very interesting.....

    That’s 3.90 cwt, or 3.90 per 100 lbs
