This has happened to me more than once.
1. You will NOT get paid for delivery of this load if your an owner operator.
2. Receiver will get to keep that load you delivered as a bonus as free inventory and get will another one delivered to replace it.
3. It will stay on your insurance record for 3 years under "loss runs" as a claim and your insurance will go up.
4. Broker will get paid and you'll have to pay a deductable whatever your policy states to the broker, $1000-$2000.
I stopped hauling freight that needs to be tarped back in 2017. It's an accident waiting to happen and yes there are receivers out there that WILL complain about wet delivery's to get free inventory. It's happened to me.
Rate confirmations DO NOT show paying extra for tarping. Not like lumpers, detention, layovers, TONU, or anything else. Tarping is a insurance guarantee that your providing for FREE of your time and equipment. And please spare me anyone that reads this to argue that poor argument "it's built into the rate" deal. No it isn't, broker is already making bank on a tarped load and he isn't going to pay extra pay for tarping
Freight claims, will this end up being sent to my insurance?
