NHTSA Investigates Freightliner Trucks Over Phantom Braking (jalopnik.com)
I wonder how many drivers have lost their jobs for a "hard brake" over this. I can tell you this, when that rascal hits, it hits hard.

I was thinking about this last night and the conclusion I came to was that the automatic braking technology has not been perfected yet, and either these braking incidents that cause wrecks or critical events are intended, or Freightliner engineers are too lazt to even recognize that there is a problem.
Same goes for safety department personnel. They, too, are unwilling to admit that there is a problem.
My other theory is that Freightliner engineers are descended from death camp guards and have never even held a driver license.mjd4277 Thanks this. -
Well better late than never. But least someone looking at the issue.

All adaptive cruise controls should be eliminated from all trucks. The same thing happens on volvos or other trucks. Anytime someone slows down exiting the highway, the truck wants to do a hard brake even though the vehicle is no longer in front of the truck. Also, they are not safety departments. They are insurance compliance departments.
