Amazing isn't it?
Then ya read posts about those who seem to be run to death by over-ego'd dispatchers and makes me wanna scream... FIND ANOTHER COMPANY TO DRIVE FOR !!
But then the reality side of me says..they could be whiners who wanna be home every weekend with the spouse n' kiddies and forgot that trucking requires some driving.

My experiences have proven to me that if you treat the dispatchers with dignity and respect, they will return the favor. What a lot of drivers don't realize is that they have to deal with many drivers every day.... many personalities EVERY day. Granted, I have not been tasked with the position, but I have seen the inner workings. I wouldn't want the pressure or the stress.
It's real simple.... If you want to be home all the time, get a local driving job. If you want to be OTR, get ready to run. Besides, at least in MY world, I only get paid if my wheels are turning (of course there is detention pay and layover pay). So I WANNA GO!!!! Make a list of what you are looking for in a company and then go find THAT company. The Internet is a wonderful thing. Use Itavi, Strykor, runningman0661 and 1 other person Thank this. -
SD welcome back!!! I always enjoyed reading your threads. Im sure this will be a good read too!!! Funny thing is one of my best friends sign on with Magnum and has been with them for a year and one month and has been treated pretty well. I couldn't agree more with having a good attitude goes a long way in this line of work and it shows in your post.
Call me crazy but the way I look at it is there are times that things suck, but at the end of the day there isn"t anything else I'd rather be doing.
Keep the updates coming and good luck and I will keep a eye out for u on the road!!! -
Mile marker, how the heck are you son?.. At the end of the day, when it is all said and done, and you've done the good days work, what else can you ask for?
I hope to see you out here I'll be looking as wellmile marker Thanks this. -
I'm doing good thanks, been running hard lately. Getting ready for some vaction time for the beginning of the month. Heading up camp for a week with my brothers and do some serious archery hunting. We do this every year and always have a blast, so looking forward to it!!
Hope everything is going good with you and safe miles brother. -
Well I ran my numbers for my first five weeks at Abilene. I have run 15,316 total miles which averages out to 3063 miles a week. So far I am extremely happy with the miles, the equipment, dispatch and the freight we haul. The only thing I have found that I don't like is the lack of pre planning of loads. So far I haven't gotten any pre plans before I was empty. On average if I'm not at a yard I wait 1.5 hours for my next load. At the 5 week mark I would give Abilene an A-.
Strykor and Jersey Mike Thank this. -
Thanks for the update.

I'm getting worried about scotterdawg, it's been over a week since he last posted. I'm having another good week. I have to deliver in Ky. In the morning and then pick up a preloaded trailer in Murray, Ky. Going to OKC for a two stopper for Friday morning. Have a great night and be safe.

No worries. Been running wide open. Been doing a lot of rescuing drivers that are out of hours. But it's all good. Getting some incredible miles. Heck, I couldnt even give you an accurate #, but I know I had about 7000 miles for the two weeks I was out on the last pay period.
Been running around the Southeast mostly. Max and I have been doing a lot of work with refrigeration units. And I am here to tell you, West Palm Beach is a beautiful place, if you are not in a big truck (sheesh.... someone wasn't thinking)
But it's all good. These guys are making me a very happy driver
Wjejwan, hope it works out.... you won't regret it.
ARF!!!scottied67, runningman0661, Truckie83 and 1 other person Thank this.
