It was a bad winter for gelling fuel filters this year. Ok, so International came up with a fix for our fleet. Changing the fuel filters to new 10 micron, moving the placement of where fuel filter is located, closer to the engine, installing a heater bowl and checking the DRIVE SHAFT. They are going to spend the money. I suggested they start putting in fuel additives when they start seeing frost on the windows. Before the truck won't start.....Whatever...Can anyone explain why checking the drive shaft would be helpful?

they are checking u joint on drive shafts. Some grease get bad and stop lubrication ability at subzero conditions. That may cause excessive wear in u-joints.
