Also why wait till you’re so low on fuel you can’t go somewhere else?
I rarely ever drop below a half tank (tho I do got big ones) why? Because if something stupid happens I don’t wanna be stuck calling a service truck in bfe.

When I'm fueling I'm stopping so I can get a shower at the same place. There's not a truck stop every exit.

Nobody was blocking fuel islands post paper logs? Maybe not as many since this massive immigration from India.

I have never sabotaged another truck at a stop, though I have been more seriously tempted by a different situation.

I parked legally and had to make a 3:00 am delivery (reefer). I got trapped in the spot by someone parked illegally and missed my delivery. Company got charged a $100 late fee too.

I would have been tempted to murder that guy if the late fee had come out of my pocket.

Oh, you can be 100% sure drivers have been parking in fuel islands for YEARS before ELDs! I won't give many examples so to avoid a flame war because somebody gets their panties all in a wad! This problem though has gotten MUCH worse. Anybody ever tried to use a CAT scale at 3 AM? How about trying to get out of a TS very early in the morning and have a problem seeing safety around a parked rig right at the main entrance?

The primary problem is there simply is not enough parking in the traditional places anymore. More and more truck stops can't be built because of zoning. Property owners fence up or rope off parking because of lizards, drugs, and trash! What does a driver do when that dang ELD is screaming stop but you can't find a legit place to park? To avoid an argument I won't say where this happened. Back around 2006, I had a late-night appointment in a food warehouse and afterward, I was directed to leave. I was using paper logs and had about 45 minutes of line 3 time left. I could not find a good place to park. So I found a C-store and parked close to the gas pumps and just off the road. I was in the process of going inside when a Deputy Sheriff stopped behind me. We greeted each other and I simply told the deputy I was by that time out of hours and was in a jam. His reply was thank you for being honest follow me. I did. He lead me to a small dark place about 2 miles down the road. Said it was his brother's place and to stay there. Gave me his phone number and said to call him if I ever had that problem again. I don't see how some drivers do this today with ELDs?

Sometimes a driver is stuck. I'm not saying it's right to park in fuel islands or near CAT scales, ITS NOT! There is NO EXCUSE for blocking just to go get a shower! These knuckleheads could make the Pope cuss.

So one pulls a seal and when the driver gets to WM, he causes a 30 minute delay at the entrance, so now 10 drivers behind him are fuming, all because the guy that could and did back up from the fuel island, had to show the world that he had not matured since high school. Ok, I get it.

The day I had my Walmart Load rejected I was only at security for about 5 minutes. It's actually not security that rejects the load most of the time. They don't have that kind of authority. In my case, I was sent inside and the traffic clerk told me it was rejected. All security does is check the seal, check appt information, and assign a door. What happens after this is going to be dictated by the traffic office.

Some receivers, such as grocery warehouses, can say they're short on product or even reject the load and then tell the shipper they'll accept the load for a steep discount.

In my case, as I said in my comment Walmart charged my carrier $200 extra to unload me. This was because they had to open every box and make sure everything was there. Huge PITA! Missing seals can be so serious a driver has to return the load to the shipper. The shipper/Broker won't pay extra for this either. A missing seal can AND HAS cost a carrier thousands of $$$! Just the cost of doing business along with all the other crap they have to pay for. I heard through the grapevine a driver got dinged at the HRBT last week. This is last I heard a $2500 fine!
