What are you asking? You are going to "leave your sexuality at the door" right? Whats the problem then?

Just something to keep in mind..

Big respected companies like UPS, FedEx, Con-way, and Wal-Mart would never want the publicity of anything negative happening to you while employed by them. Without getting too political, this has become a double edged sword. For instance, if a dispute arose of a work related nature between you and a straight employee, it is almost certain the company would take your position because they would not want the negative press that could lead to possible financial implications for the company. That said, if you were vocal about your orientation before being hired I would say your chances of employment would diminish and rightfully so. These large profit turning companies could care less what your orientation is so long as you do the job and don't create a situation that could interfere with their PR or bottom line.

Look, I'm a younger person that has had a few different views of the world but understands business. I've basically been raised in redneck Pa and New York City at the same time, and spent a ton of time in DC/Northern Va. I don't want to hear from a bible beater anymore than I want to hear about a homosexual lifestyle. I think when it comes to these "super divisive" lifestyle topics, I just want to be left alone - as do most of my peers. Do your thing but don't boast or preach to me about it when it comes to lifestyle choices. I have my opinions which tend to lean right but don't feel I have the right to enforce my beliefs on anyone else when it comes to how you want to live your life.

I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised by the answers of my driving peers - don't ask don't tell is the way to go. When I saw the title of the thread I didn't think it would be as civil as it was. As many veteran drivers said, you'll have plenty of other things to worry about anyway - I can vouch for that.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for everyones input.

Going from a 1 ton dually flatbed and heavy van to an 18 wheeler will be a challenge. I just wanted to head off any problems (before they became problems) with companies that I might wish to work for.

I spoke to a Fed Ex recruiter Friday. I am going to spend some time looking over their threads and websites.

Not trying to be meanspirited here.

Never saw a trucking co with a space on the application for "sexual preference". Why is it that gays feel the need to inform everyone about their leanings?

Frankly, I'm getting pretty tired of the whole "All we want is equality" when what is really meant is "we want special treatment".

Face it, homosexuality/lesbianism will never be considered "normal" no matter what you do. That's not the "fault" of religion or anyone else. The "norm" for mankind is procreation, it's what keeps the species alive and growing. When you step outside that "norm" you get a visceral reaction from the rest of the "herd".

So do what you do, but quit expecting others to "accomodate" you.

maybe go to canada or find another profession more suited for queers like the fashion industry or interior design! why do homos always think they can forcefully change heterosexual culture, behavior and social norm to accept their abominable acts of immorality and abnormal sexual relations? Perhaps they should focus their energies on finding a cure for the genetic defect or chemical imbalance that drives their deviant and dysfunctional lifestyle instead of trying to indoctrinate the future generations into their perversion of the natural order of things.
