my company has purchased a 2006 f750 in Sacramento. I need to get it all the to Alabama and plan to drive it. what am I up against to simply drive it out of the state once and for all. Truck is currently in Sacramento. I can head for the boarder at night if needed

hope this question doesn't violate board policy. This is not an altered vehicle. it was just parked a couple years ago because owner could not register it in California, and it is exactly what we need. we have it registered in Alabama now. I just got to get it here

If it's running, and you have it registered and insured, drive it away.

The Communist State allows a certain number of miles exemption, and it's supposed to be just for this purpose. Like 1,000 miles or something.

Just get on 80 and head back to Free America.

Layout stated you have it registered in Alabama already. Leave at night and head to Alabama.

Bobtailing, or pulling a trailer? Carry all the paperwork with you, my guess would be if you got stopped, explain the circumstances, they would probably be just as glad to see you leave, as you are.

There is an actual permit for what you are doing. Of course there's a permit, it's California...

I did something similar and had to call the DMV, they were near clueless and Covid closures didn't help. I had to call CHP and have a weigh cop inform me that there's a permit that requires your route info and whatnot and it's a 4 day wait for approval. I opted to take the scenic route.

Seemed like nonsense to me and virtually nobody had a clue what was required so I recieved conflicting information depending who I called. They have stacks upon stacks of rules and nobody knowledgeable enough to decipher them.
