Should be fun when we get them in January and see how much they screw with us.

I covered up the driver facing camera 2 years ago,,,nothing said. The forward facing cam fell off windshield 4 months ago,,,i put it back on windshield with ALIEN tape (as seen on tv) this week. Again, nothing said
GFL locally has always seems to be hiring but i have no idea what they are like to work for,,possibly each terminal is different depending on management.

Just found out from a fellow driver we’re going to driver facing cameras too apparently . 5 trucks right now have them and the rest of the fleet are forwarded only . I’m jumping ship when that happens they don’t pay me enough for all this extra crap . Thinking of going roll off anyways in the near future. Seems to pay $30 plus vs dragging around a trailer in the gta for $25

    BigHossVolvo Thanks this.

Unifor's legal department is still looking into it to see if we can do anything about it. Of course the company says it's for safety reasons which is bs. Most of our accidents are in Mcdonalds parking lots.

Oh man, with our Samsara systems at my previous outfit, if the camera was blocked or obstructed, and couldn't track the drivers eyes, it was going off like a 4 alarm fire. I actually went and talked to a GLF Driver, that was picking up the bin from my local Freshco. He said they suck like any other company, but it pays well, and its easy work. He used to work for Highway 9, so we chatted about LTL and how we would never go back. I told him I like dump trucks, but it can get boring, and is very dusty. He said he would take roll off over dump trucks.

I actually talked to a GFL roll off guy, at my local FreshCo yesterday (I always park in the back, by the docks) and he was a former LTL guy also (Highway 9), said he went from $27/hr No OT to $32 + OT and Perks. I think he was mid 30's, super nice guy, said he would never do LTL or Freight again (lol, seems to be a trend). We chatted a bit, and I said I like dump trucks, but its a bit boring and dusty. He said he would take roll off vs dump. He was driving a 2020 Volvo VHD64, looked like a OK unit. I totally forgot to ask him about the Camera Situation, as we got blabbing about LTL.

That’s the problem , most Local tractor trailer jobs pay peanuts compared to straight truck jobs . you don’t get paid extra to drag that trailer around so why bother doing it . I’m very serious looking at going front load or roll off . Canada waste connections has a swing driver position for toronto at $34 a hr . Only problem is they want you working 6 days a week

Well yea, you have to throw chains/cables to do roll off, or do a double drop, most freight drivers are not gonna do that. I get more money for truck and pup vs tandem dump. But you're right, my tandem rate is higher, than class 1 tractor trailer in freight lol. Yea, most waste and dump companies want 6 days a week, i'm glad I dodged that bullet, that a no go for me also.
