Livininabox, Sounds as though you have it all worked out the way you like it at Crete. Now I'll try and shed a little more light about Poly without trying to get to deep. Poly isn't an OTR trucking company per say like Crete is. Poly-Trucking is a part of the actual company called Poly America. Primary business is NOT trucking. Poly produces their own product and has a trucking department(Poly-Trucking) that hauls most of their own product. Poly isn't in the business to truck for other companies like Crete is. Poly hauls things for other companies just to cover the back haul expenses to get the Poly trucks back to a Poly facility and so on. There aren't any secrets about Pay or per diem at Poly. I can only guess JD prefers not to drag it all out on here or something. He has offered a PM as an option for you and him. No big deal. No secrets involved. It just can get a little long when trying to explain it on here to everyone. I'm not going to try and explain it on here now either. I will sum it all up by saying if you are weighing Crete against Poly on amount of net money you should make then Poly wins everytime. Like it, lump it or leave it. Many of us have worked at both and know that without a doubt. I like both companies but from a dollar amount Poly pays you more. If you need to get tied up on how that's figured then knock yourself out. Nothing wrong with being happy at either place. There are hundreds of variables that go into trucking as we all know. If you are interested in a chance to make more money then give Poly a try. If you are just comfortable with everything at Crete then stay there. Both are best made decisions by YOU for YOU. We post things on here for many reasons. Hopefully you get something from these Posts like I do. However, I don't feel anyone is trying to keep any secrets about anything on here. I can only wish you luck in whatever you choose to do. Good luck with it all and take care out there. :)

againstthewind, call Pat or Martin on their cell to tell about breakdown & motel. Leave message if they don't answer. Once repairs are done contact backhaul & the shop. The shop because they need to release your truck in the system.

I decided to take the day off (due to weather concerns in UT) & came to the Hacienda Casino for a free room & some college football. I have bad news.

Today is the final day for a free room for CDL holders. Sun-Th will be $40, F-Sat $60. Guess it's time to find a new hotel.

livinginabox, I'm not hiding anything. Avoiding the possibility (though unlikely) of stepping on corporate toes in a public forum.

in my short time at poly i have learned that if im gonna deal with the regular frustrations of otr trucking, i would prefer it be at a place like poly where when all is said and done i will be choosing from at least a few loads, loads that are usually longer(which means more productive),and getting paid for every mile on that load and at a good rate. throw in the hometime policy(and other little things) and i dont see many company otr jobs that compare,(for me at least). just my 2cents. also living in an area where the freight goes always helps. be safe out there in this nasty weather

It's not so the dealer will release your truck. It's so that when you arrive at a terminal it won't show you out of service. Plus, dispatch looks at the status of your truck to make sure they can plan a load for you.

As far as reimbursement for a motel when you are in the shop...I believe they said that you turn that in to HR not with your paperwork in the dropbox...

As far as the cost of coolant. It it wasn't leaking or causing the engine to run funny...I think I'da kept putting in coolant...depending on how many days away from GP you were. Even coolant is cheaper than a motel and the hourly rates the dealership gets for walk in business. If they could do it at the company shop...it's much cheaper plus you get to drive one of our fine and fancy loaners :biggrin_25520:...beats sitting unpaid in a motel...but this is my opinion. But as often as I've seen the shop, I'm still way ahead on pay...plus I get all this exercise jumping from loaner to loaner.
