My trucks out of the shop. A/C is still making noise...I guess the expansion valves are on back order. They couldn't make the air compressor leak...and couldn't make the turbo squeel(only does it on high jake)...I guess there isn't a tall enough hill on the yard to bobtail down...but I got my truck back before my Christmas trip.

I know it is a bit early for this but...since I have some serious family issues (which involve Hospice)I may not be on much until around New Years so I figured I'd post my final numbers for 2013. Next week will be my 12th and final paycheck for the calander year. My gross is a few bucks shy of $15k which equates to just a few dollars under $5000/mo. gross. My total paid miles will end up over 30,500. Considering that I have just started with Poly's system and I'm still learning the do's and don't's of being productive...I would say that isn't half bad. It means I left Crete and immediately started making a better living at a totally new company in a system I wasn't fully familiar with(although it is similar to the way Landstar did it when I was leased on there). Plus not having to run myself ragged, and spending many more days off(although not always at home). And, of those 12 weeks, 7 weeks were spent truck hopping from loaner to loaner while my assigned truck was in the shop.

It gives me a lot to look forward to once next year starts and I get all the bugs worked out of my truck. Here's to finally feeling fairly comfortable with not only my job, but my company as well...I know that sounds odd coming from me...perhaps this is a start of something new...an agreeable Snackbar? :biggrin_2556::biggrin_25521:

well i am home for christmas, have done 3 loads for poly so far , the 1st one was a 3 stopper to the northeast to get me home to get my stuff and also for thanksgivin, the 2nd was to the midwest and ended up with 4 days down at indy dealer for egr cooler( it was no surprise as i knew there was a good chance it would be goin soon), 3rd load was a load to northeast that was on the board that put me 60 miles from home, so came home for christmas,no excitement on the backhauls as they went pretty smooth with loading an unldn, its been a slow start miles wise due to the holidays and gettin home so im not complainin. looking forward to coming back after my time off. sorry to hear about your family situation snackbar. Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all and safe travels.

So when the jake brake causes a whining noise and even with it off going down hill it means the turbo is going out? That's what I got going on but just noise no loss of power or dash lights.

It depends on which engine. If you're not using oil...it may be something as simple as a blown gasket on the exhaust manifold or turbo(or a loose turbo bolt). It could also be something like a wastegate or V G turbo actuator acting up. Or even a leaking turbo hose or air to air.

My last Crete Maxxfarce had a horrific squeel after they replaced the egr and cooler....and it did it until I quit.
With no loss of power, most shops would tell you to bring it back when it's broke.

WARNING WARNING WARNING...we Poly drivers know that our shop leaves a lot to be desired...some may say they down right suck...but I am affraid to have work done there any more. When they worked on a trailer I picked up...it had the air lines installed wrong..so no brakes on the entire rear axle....when they replaced my turbo...2 bolts on the turbo were loose (one almost ready to fall out) plus they didn't replace all the bolts on the inner fender so it's sorta flopping. I've seen drivers go in there to have an almost flat tire replaced, but they ignored that one and replaced a perfectly good one. I am affraid to have tires put on...they might forget to tighten all the lugs and the wheel will pass me as I skid out of control.(while Kenny Rogers sings "you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel")

Btw, the loose turbo bolts were the cause of my squeel...it got bad enough yesterday that it did it any time the turbo spooled...and it was almost loud enough to break glass. An 18mm socket and wrench tightened the back bolts...one was finger tight. I don't know if they didn't retorque them after a few heat/cool cycles or if this is going to be a reoccuring problem or if they're just that careless

Merry Christmas! Quick question. What route do you guys take out of Longview, WA to Reno (weather is not an issue) I pick up tomorrow after I deliver at Costco. And wasn't someone refused at that customer for some root beer or something? I vaguely remember something like that. I am still here, I just hate trying to navigate this forum with this phone. Thanks!

One more. Anyone use that dealership in Las Vegas? I need an egr cooler without a ton of downtime.
