i find it funny when a driver thinks poly isnt driver friendly, with what i mentioned above there is also the stop pay(which many dont understand) and other things like runs where the driver schedules the appts, also when u want to go home if there is a load that will get u home they can load it early, also the length of haul is longer than most. i have had bad days but there have been very few, some have been days that i have learned from to make it easier in the future, there are also quite a few other drivers from crete/schaffer and other companies that are here that are not on this thread.
to anyone thinkn about poly i would suggest u do what i did, come on over an give it a try, u can most likely go back to where u were if its not for u, like JD always said poly isnt for everyone.
if u go back to the beginning of this thread an read i dont think much has changed.
also when i started i knew i may get a truck with 700k on it, i dont think we have any with that many miles anymore. if i had as many equip problems as some i may not still be here, but i knew the chance i was taking when i came here.
also one last note, they dont bother me here and i rarely talk to anyone in the office, when i do its prob cuz i messed up a log or somthin, but those things have become less an less.Mev, LilRobWayne, bigcat1124 and 3 others Thank this. -
I second both of what lil rob and againstthewind have said. I'm enjoying my time here. I like that it's not a normal trucking company or I would have stayed where I was at. I knew what I was getting into when I came as I knew a couple people that worked here. But I weighed my options and decide poly was a good fit for ME. I knew I wouldn't get a nice shiny caddy out the gate, I knew there was no breakdown pay, I knew I might not get a paycheck each and every week because of how they do payroll and that was ok with me. I found out what I need to know and asked questions ahead of time to make sure poly was for me and not just jump because everyone else was or ohh it's 48 cents a mile.
Poly doesn't hold a gun to anyone's head to continue to work here. I'm the type if I'm unhappy I do something about it and since I'm not the owner of a company I move on to something else instead moaning and groaning because it's life and usually will get you nowhere especially in trucking because there is a warm body just waiting to take your seat.
I know poly isn't perfect and I'm not trying to sugar coat my time here or down play other people's experience here. I just wanted to chime in my experience as I usually rarely comment on here as my time here has been pretty much the same. That's not to say I don't have bad days here but it's the life of trucking.
OK now back to regularly scheduled program already in progress.jdrentzjr, 48Packard, Mev and 1 other person Thank this. -
and that is they simply don't bug me.
I try my best to run safe , on time , and hand in good paperwork.
Miles are miles , and money is money , but for me personally , if I can relax
at a place and be left alone it becomes home. -
Just read the news...Remember when their driver crashed in NJ, they promised to do the right thing if their driver was shown to be at fault. Even thought he hasn't been tried yet, enough evidence shows he was. Now, Walmart shows that they are doing the right thing by...blaming the injured and killed for their injuries because they weren't wearing their seat belt at the time their stationary limo-van was hit from behind by a truck doing around 65 (in a 45) knocking it into 6 other vehicles...way to go Wally!!
48Packard Thanks this. -
Walmart , capitalism at its finest.

Just think if Walmart stock dropped to $35 a share on this subject???

And you can all be sure if it was your truck and trailer involved you would want your DEFENCE ATTORNEY to plant the seed of thought in the mind of a jury that quite possibly their actions or in this case NON ACTIONS ( failed to put on seat belts ) contributed to some point in the injuries and death of the occupants when it came to how much $ you were going to be paying out.
