My bi weekly checks didn't look like that. Man Poly sure is tempting. But so is going from Cali to NYC and not having to go in a scale. Or pay tolls. But hub miles and a 68mph rooster cruiser. But no Thermo king or Shiney Hiney doors.. A double minded man is unstable in all his way. Poly rocks!!

Better to be double-minded than half-fast.:biggrin_25523:

I wouldn't know what to do with all that money. I'd get lazy and want to take a couple days off or something, and actually enjoy it.

Wifey and I discussed opportunities with Poly this evening. We compared it to any local opps that might be available to me in the next 90 days, and here is what we decided:

Any local jobs would likely (not absolutely, but likely) entail working night shift and probably not make any more than I'm making now, which isn't bad. Another factor is that my kids and two grandchildren live some 3 1/2 hours away. Local positions MIGHT get me weekends off, but more than likely the days off would be random and not weekends. Having several consecutive days off works better for me than just one or two days.

Therefore, the Poly opportunity seems the most workable to us. She isn't crazy about me being gone, but has grown used to it. Better money combined with better hometime will help. However, we have to do a few things before I make a job change. One of those things is to buy a house where my wife has been working for nearly two years (and where she has been renting a room in a friend's home during that time. Just getting a home of our own will help us both psychologically).

So...I'm hoping that sometime around March, Poly may have some openings for me to apply for. Could be sooner, but right now I'm thinking around 90 days to get things in order here at home.

Well had a wonderful day. Had an old friend from college pick me up and I spent the day with him and his family. We bought some rib eyes and had a wonderful dinner and just some down time talking about old times as well as recent ####. One of the true joys of trucking for me is getting to visit folks that have meant a lot to me that I might never see again if not for this job.

Called the Poly recruiting number today, and an actual PERSON answered! Hallelujah! It was Meagan (sp?) in HR, and I relayed how anxious I am to get on with Poly after submitting the app on Nov. 29. She told me it's still being processed and once done would be handed to the HR manager. If he then saw fit he would give me a call for an interview. Ugh, the waiting, the waiting! She said the time frame is different in every case. I thanked her very much, told her I was still very interested and to have a wonderful holiday season. Meanwhile I can live vicariously here through my new friends on this blog. Happy holiday season everyone, stay warm and dry and keep a'those wheels turning! At least until Christmas Day... God bless.

A fairly arduous day. Started by pulling pallets off in the rain in Boston. Managed to get that knocked out relatively quickly and just in time for the peak of morning rush hour. Slogged on up into Maine and finished off the last 4 pallets. Got to give some props to the road folks in Maine, NH and Vermont, from what I saw today they have got their #### together in getting the roads in decent shape during this inclement weather. Had a load set up as soon as I emptied out which picks up in west central Vermont. Spent the remainder of the day zig zagging across NH and Vermont in the dark and rain but made it to the shipper tonight. Hauling it down to Pell City, AL for Thursday so looking at a real solid two days of running once I am loaded in the morning. Hopefully will be able to get a follow up load early Thursday heading back to GP. One other note, was needing a shower and I saw that the Truck Stop at Exit 7 off I-91 in Vermont was listed as a FJ affiliate. I stopped in and asked and the lady said they were no longer affiliated with FJ and I asked about the cost of a shower. She asked if I was a driver and said it was only a 5.00 key deposit. Only one shower at the place but it was pretty big and clean and the price was right:)

    jdrentzjr and Dinomite Thank this.
