Well, I just swung by to check on my truck (I grabbed a motel room next door) and the Poly truck is long gone.

Someone screwed up and failed to call me so I sat for way too long after leaving a couple of phone messages and one on the QC. Picked up in Sulphur, LA and taking her on up to near Pittsburgh. The good part is since my hours were screwed I got to stop over in Lafayette, LA and visit an old acquaintance for dinner which was very nice. The bad part the load was supposed to be there Wednesday before they quit unloading at 1400. I could perhaps make it running like a madman and through some graveyard stuff but I am going to try and get it rescheduled for Thursday morning which will make things much easier.

Picked up a transfer load at GP today and am rolling to Hendersen, NV. I am on the board out there for an outbound on Wednesday. I will probably end up getting a load to Washington or Oregon. Break out the chains!

I was in Kilgore, TX couple of weekends ago. Was stuck at Gateway Plaza for couple of days while well was serviced w/coil tubing. There was a red Poly ProStar there the whole time. Every time I was going to talk to the driver he was gone or asleep. Do they have decent layover pay for weekend like that???

It seems many on here are concerned about drivers sitting. All I can say is that there are many reasons to do it. Many times it's a restart deal from running hard. Sometimes it might be the driver wanting the extra time off. However, we deal with many broker back haul loads and some of them have some time issues. Just know it's not an issue at the end of the day. We run plenty of miles and have plenty of good loads with good pay. No need to worry about having to sit. It's not like there are 5000 drivers here fighting for loads. It's all good. Not many chances to get layover. Not something they do much of at Poly. Anyways, hope that helps answer your question a little more. Take care! :)

I got an outbound load in Henderson going to Sumner,WA for Thursday am. It was loaded early so I decided to leave early and have a leisurely three day drive. Then late this afternoon outbound called and said they may need me to repower a load in Twin Falls still going to Sumner but delivering on Wednesday afternoon. Was told they would call back once the truck got to the shop for a preliminary diagnosis. They did call back with info for the driver I would switch trailers with. So now I get to deliver a day earlier and potentially make more money. Yay me!

Concerning the questions about Poly drivers laying over, LWR hit the nail on the head. There have been times here I've wanted to take a day off because I was running hard. Could never say that at the other company.

I must say, it's good to finally be getting another load out of GP. Not the place to come for loads right now. I had put my self on Monday's board last Thursday. Got to GP Sunday night. I'll spare the details and just say I'm just getting my load offers. They weren't much but I don't want to sit and wait for something else. If any of you have a choice to avoid GP for a couple days I would recommend it. Unless you need a restart this is NOT the place to be right now. I took a two stop load that should be ready this evening. First stop in Appleton,WI and last stop at our Cottage Grove facility.

Well, after long and heartfelt discussions with wifey, it appears that I am now that much closer to applying to Poly.

We've eliminated the current local job offer (money wasn't what my contact thought it would be), and we have found a house.....er, uh...pardon me....my wife has found a house she likes here in the Columbia, SC area. We are going to start the process to make an offer shortly. But I'm still going to hold the app until we are IN the house. No sense jumping the gun.

In the end, it came down to at least the same money as Crete, and likely more, with better home time. More time for us to go see grandbabies. Or run away from our own kids!

So how did the interview go Man in Moon? Havent seen a response. Things have been good getting great runs and mileage, I heard that they shut the plant down in areas for restructuring and repairs/remodle so they have been working with mostly backhaul and outside freight thats why so slow
