Hey guys! I've been lurking for a while but never posted. Learned a lot from this forum, thanks for all the information.
So I finally have a date for orientation (9/24) and I am SUPER nervous! I've never been away from home for a job before!
One thing that makes me the most anxious is that I graduated on 7/18 and have not driven a truck since. I don't know if I can still shift gears
I called my trucking school and of course they would not let me go in for more practice. I am wondering if anyone else has the same problem, and if you did fine (warmed up quickly) during training? How good of a driver do they expect you to be going into training?
Also, for all the rookies & wannabes like me, I started a blog that will document my training with Schneider day by day. So if you're interested, check it out here: http://truckerkitty.blogspot.com/
Also...when I went to trucking school, I thought that was the hardest thing I had to do. Then I had to pass my CDL test, and I thought I'll be set after that. But now...I realize that passing the carrier's training/testing is the real hardest thing. Don't give up!!!
Going to Fontana, CA next Monday 9/24 for Schneider orientation!

Can't wait to see how your experience with Schneider goes. I am SERIOUSLY considering them. Keep us updated!

Don't know if the big pumpkin brought back their schools but back when i was thinking of coming back otr i considered them since I hadn't been on the road for 2+ years they told me I would have to go with a trainer for a couple of weeks. I ended up going with another company but don't worry about shifting you will learn more with your trainer than you did in class, even after going on your own you still won't have shifting down 100%.

Don't worry about it !!!! let someone else be first on the roadtest if you can so you can see that everyone sucks at shifting anyway.
There is a thread about where you are going for orientation in here somewhere i read it a few days ago, really covered the experience well. -
