That sounds pretty typical of the OTR companies. What do they think they are going to tell an experienced driver that he doesn't already know? Wait. Let me guess. They are going to tell you how to "cheat" on logs to make more money. Or, maybe they are going to explain to you that giving up time at at customer is just part of the business. Maybe they will explain to you why their benefits, if any, cost so much.

Obviously the list goes on. I hope that you can hang in there and there is no lay-off.

    Good luck to you.

Thanks for the comeback 074344. I'm almost sure that a lay off is going to happen. It's better than working a day or two a week. It will probably only be for the winter. It was year round job till they hired the nephew/cousin/friend of a friend ect...(I'm being positive here) and believe it or not it is the Teamsters, but It's in the construction business and in this contract we have no seniority (we got sold out by our brothers). The way I look at it is they are finally putting me out of my misery. Just get it over with.

That sucks... no seniority and family members being hired. Good luck on getting what you want out of the deal.

MY first thought when I started working here was "what happens when Son/Son in law/or just a better suck up comes along. There are a lot of good things about this company (beside working for a Wolverine and no Seniority) like a very good wage, pension included, nailed down start time in the AM and being home every night. Makes it hard to just walk away from.

I need HELP! I have been working for a Company for 2 months now and have been getting SO FEW MILES that I can barely survive! The dang recruiter said this and said that but I haven't seen much of this OR that! Can anyone reccomend a Comapny that is willing to pay for a driver with a perfect driving record (0 points in 5 years), Haz-Mat and Tank endorsements and is willing to run ANYWHERE in the country? I know the 2 months work experience is going to hurt me but getting ONLY .29 a mile (OUCH) and less than 1,500 miles a week...well you do the math! Any insight would be welcome and appreciated. :biggrin_2553:

I think Eastern Freightways starts new hires at .38 cpm but you need 3 months experience last I heard. Equipment starting out for the new drivers is not the greatest but within 6 months or so you would probably have been switched to a newer truck.

I have been here for over 7 years and am happy. All depends on how hard you want to work and how efficient you are. They are based in North Brunswick NJ if interested check them out online (can't hurt).
