A Missouri Congressman has introduced house bill HR 3474 to finally classify high mounts as car carriers like they do the stinger steer haulers.
This will hopefully legally let the high mounts run the over hang we need with out being hit or miss harassed by DOT when they get the urge.
This has been a long time coming and I believe it needed to be done sooner than later.
So far the bill has zero opposition but stand by because this is Washington we are dealing with...

Hate to be negative here but I don’t think it will go anywhere. There is no ATA (with big pockets) behind this.

Send that congressman a big donation, we must pay to play in our political system.

There are usually hundreds of bills introduced in The House that never even get 'out of committee' so they can get voted on by the full House of Representatives and currently 100+ bills that have been passed by The House and forwarded to The Senate that are in limbo and basically dead because Mitch McConnell, the current Senate Majority leader has no intention of bringing them up for a vote (he has that power as The Senate majority leader). [ That was all given as factual information without any qualifying of the politics of it. Simply factually where things are. No need to bring political opinions into this thread, that is in a different part of this forum ]

This is not a stand alone bill this is being put forward to be part of the highway bill if they ever get that done.
Also federal dot has put forward a change in guidance on the very same regulation ( classification of high mounts as auto carriers) last year I believe.
There was a comment period which also was met with zero opposition and is awaiting a final decision.
So there is actually two paths to get this done working there way thru the system.

    Six9GS Thanks this.
