It keeps getting better with this load.

I got to Walmart and the delivery number I was given had already checked in.
One mix up after another, but it was finally worked out.

They had no empties and I was sent to the Costco DC in Morris, IL for an mt.
They do not release dry van empty trailers without authorization, which was not provided. And Swift SHOULD know this before they send someone to grab an mt, right?

Not yet having an mt for my next load is just pushing that load to a later delivery.
It is pre-loaded and has a good delivery window on it so I won't be late, but the plan was for an early afternoon delivery tomorrow in MI so I could get to the New Boston terminal for my DOT physical nearby in Romulus.
I'm not sure how late the clinic is open and may need to put off the physical until the next day, losing that much more time.

 

I pdeliver at a place in Victorville ca that wont give out empties.
only to the dedicated drivers.
last week I picked up damaged trailer there and a dedicated swift driver came over and asked if I was dedicated.
I said no and he said they need 200 trailers on site.
told him this was damaged and he said oh OK. lol

 

I am liking this local stuff .
though it is a pay cut I dont have to deal with other drivers bs.
I don't qualify for the monthly bonus.
once i go onduty to do pretrip, I stay onduty all day except for lunch..
dl says I paid when I go ondsuty till I go offduty for posttrip.
so he said stay onduty.
don't have to worry about saving hours or minutes on 70 anymore.
works a bit slow with the holiday season and economy now.

Trick for mt's at Walmart, if you have patience.

Look for any Swift trailers on a door. Then go into the dispatch and ask when the trailers are expected to be unloaded and if you can have it once it is.

They're generally unloaded within an hour or two ... beats chasing around the countryside looking for a trailer.

I've also been known to just go into anyplace that I know of or I've seen Swift trailers at, then go in and say I've been sent here to pick up an mt.

I put off the physical until this morning, and put it off until around 1030.
I don't do early morning physicals.
Everything went well and I got a nice load out that t-called in New Boston going to IA.

Not sure how far I can make it tomorrow with that bad weather coming in.
The strong winds hit before the snow, and my load is less than 5k.

 

I made it to Peru, IL and had to shut down.
It looks like I'll be stuck here until Sunday morning, mainly because of the wind.

I'm glad I was able to get to a Walmart this morning.

No, my home time is set for 1/5.
That gets me home in time to see my middle daughter, Leann, just before she heads out on the 11th to Italy to get married.
