Southern Miss, i.e. Hattiesburg. I am currently in Commercial Truck Driving School at a junior college.

I would like the highest paying home daily driving job I can get or if I have to, a regional job where I will be driving 5 days, home 2 days. I have a 15 y/o son at home. Need to be home with him really, but sometimes we have to sacrifice to get ahead ( $$ ). I am in truck driving school right now, and it is intense, to me, anyway. Had NO idea how much is involved in trucking. A LOT !! Very intimidating. I think it is harder than something in the medical field, actually.

Try Baldwin Transfer I think they have a yard in
Hattiesburg. John Fayard in Gulfport Might be another option. 3T's runs containers out of the paper mill at New Augusta to the port in Mobile.

Idk how good they are but McElroy in Cuba AL hires new grads and they’re mon - fri home on Friday - Sunday.

Stop by Channel Control Merchants on 49. They may or may not require experience but that’s a day cab job. Idk about the pay since it’s under new ownership, last time I talked to them it wasn’t worth the time. No offense.

I THINK ABF has a yard in Hattiesburg?? Maybe someone can correct me on that. It’s on 11 I believe. Maybe try them? Worst case scenario, get your CDL, work in the warehouse/docks and work into a day cab job.

Warren Paving on Elks Lake Rd is off and on looking for ready mix/cement truck drivers. I THINK it’s like $14/hr but don’t quote me on that.

You’ll have to look on Indeed or Google it but I believe there was a construction company around town looking for drivers. Pay per hr wasn’t great but they get a hell of a lot of hours.

Brown Bottling company is usually always hiring...

Southern beverage... those places you may not start in a truck, but if you can get on the docks they pay well from what I hear and you can always work up.

Komatsu/Lyle Machinery May or May not hire you and teach you how to haul their stuff.

Now, if you can be a little more flexible on the being gone.... I’d say look West. Idk about the rest of the country but Texas and North Dakota seem to starting to pop off oilfield wise, at least from what the friends I have there say. If you can live with a 14/7 or 15/6 etc you can drive out there and make some decent money.

I know a fairly large company is looking for drivers in North Dakota, they pay for everything and I think it’s either 14/7 or 15/6 making decent.

If you lived closer to Jackson or the coast you might would have better luck on local gigs no exp.

Also.... it may be a long shot, but try some of the wrecker companies... having a Class A already they might take you on and show you the ropes.

If using your GI bill I would have gone for Averitt, good rep and benfits, they advertise good pay and some like driving an automatic.
