How do I know? Well, since I drive for Gordon, that might explain it. The driver that was on my trainers truck before me quit after 3 months because he was only averaging 1200 miles a week and that don't pay the bills. I get 3000+ a week running western states.

The reason that we are still hiring drivers, is that we are growing like crazy and landing new accounts as well as expanding accounts that we already have, especially in the Midwest. As for experience overall, I know we have tons of drivers who have been with GTI 10 or more years. They just don't put stickers on our trucks every time someone logs a million miles or everytime we complete a year of service. We do it for the "little green light" on the windshield...I can't remember the last time I was "redlighted" to a scale.:biggrin_25525:

This is my second time with Gordon The first time i had to leave on my own accord, they hired me strait out of school, they are a great company to work for but there are a few recruiters to stay away from J.Martin for 1. They run most of the states also the longer you stay out the more miles you average. They are 1 of the highest paying for just starting out 2 pay raises in the first year. Any questions dont hesitate to ask. I will answer all that I can. I am not an expert on them but they keep me running and very Happy with them.

I hate to burst your bubble but they are all like that.:yes2557: CFI gose through drivers like crap through a goose!:biggrin_2552: Why do you think they advertise all the time? The people in the offices could not care less if they ruin you financially or you miss a family event. :biggrin_25512: With most companies it's mind over matter. They don't mind and you don't matter!:biggrin_25510:

I applied to Gordon at the beginning of this week. I have 12yrs exp., excellent MVR, no felonies and have worked for only one company (Interstate Dist.) in the last three years. BTW, Interstate wouldn't rehire me because I took 4.5 months off over the winter. Interstate said that was too much time off!

Anyway, Patty at Gordon told me today that her supervisor turned my app down because of where I live- 90 miles north of L.A. on the :Route ID: corridor. I thought that's where Gordon ran all the time? This is gettin' nuts.

Face it, you are over qualified to drive for a training company.

You would start at the top of the pay scale, and you already know more than the average DM, so you would not fit in.

I also heard recently that the Gordon/Interstate families had a bit of a fall out. When I drove for IDC, was told that Gordon would not hire any driver coming from IDC, and that was 5 years ago. So I guess things havn't changed any.

..I live in Eugene & whenever I stop along I-5 here for gas or a snack I will sit in the parking area & watch trucks to see who is moving the most, north & south day or night; well it didn't take too many stops to see who was busy, hands down it was Interstate & GTI (the powder blue trucks!) in this area.. no mater what time of day I will always see either one of those carriers go by in the first few minutes I'm there & not just a few, usually several if i sit watching more than 15 mins.. next would be MTC (May Trucking) & I like those 387 Petes they get to drive followed by Swift, Knight & a few Schneiders from time to time & along with others like Werner, CRST, etc..
