I get flare ups every now and then. I'm not massively overweight but I do eat a lot of red meats. You can go from being fine when you go to bed at night to waking up with crippling pain in the morning that will hobble you to the point you cant hardly walk. Flare ups might not happen for a couple of years too, at least with me. Drinking a quart of tart cherry juice concentrate will virtually eliminate all or most of the inflammation within a few hours. It's an amazing old home remedy. You gotta drink it all at once and you'll be sitting on the throne afterwards but it'll definitely flush out the acid that causes gout pain. And not the black cherry juice, it's gotta be the tart.
