Typically when Google tells you to get off it's because of a traffic problem, However if you don't know the area better to stay on the big road.
I have a habit of running alot of streets to get around traffic when running local like I do now, but I don't recomend this over all.

Looking at the playstore.
It would appear things have changed.
The truck app is retired.
There's a different copilot app that says cars, trucks, and rvs.
Doesn't look like copilot is still In business.

While the Rand McNally Roaad Atlas book has tons of useful info, it only has street-level info the the very biggest cities. You need that atlas book for all of the other info. -
