    You can adjust the Garmin suggested route by picking your own "waypoints". These are stops along the route that the Garmin will then adjust its route to accomodate.

    I got mine from buy.com for $489.00 brand new.

    Try the one from PC Miler it's co-pilot. Made for trucks, and one version comes with a GSP receiver.

    GPS units are OK.......They have a tendency to show the most direct route wich isn't always the best route.....:biggrin_25510:
    Like when you can take an expressway and go a few milesout of you way and get there ALOT quicker.......:biggrin_25519:
    Or follow the GPS and go straight through town and stop at every frickin light.........:biggrin_25510:

    Just something to think about..............:biggrin_25517::biggrin_25512:

    There's one from Teletype corporation, too -it's stand alone, and from what little comparison I've seen, is actually the better system for drivers

    A bit more expensive, but you can't buy a Bentley on a VW budget

    I purchased a Garmin C330 early last year and it has a selectable Truck Route in the tool box navigation screen.
    My boss wanted to buy some for his fleet and we purchsed several at Action GPS reconditioned C300's and the C340's. Cost was $129 free shipping. Both have the Truck Route option. Works pretty well but like some of the posts have mentioned there are some local problems.
    The diffrence between the 330 and 340 is the voice program. 330 tels you to "turn right in 400 ft" while the 340 tels you to "Turn right onto Main St.". The voice program even has a name "American Jill".
    Anyway I don't know if Garmin still make either model but one of our truck drivers was told that Garmin no longer offers the truck route option in their GPS because truckers were sueing them for taking them down roads they shouldn't have gone.
    This may very well be an urban legend but Garmin service personel have no clue about their products.

    This isn't out yet but it is coming soon! I would wait if you are looking for a REAL commercial GPS system. If this actually works like they say it will, every trucker will have one. You can do a search on the "Goodyear GY500X" but you will find only enough info to make you want more. Goodyear is coming out with about 8 models but they don’t say if all of them have commercial routing. There are some cheaper models also for around $150 but again I just know that the "Goodyear GY500X" is supposed to be built for truck drivers, complete with several levels of Hazmat routes. I was set on a Worldnav 3300 but they cant seem to get a good review to save their lives. I think I will wait for the Goodyear brand to come out and see the reviews on it before I decide. For now I use my Blackberry with Google maps, some common sense, and my RandMcNalley to get me around.

    The best GPS is the gray matter between your ears! There is no GPS with a good solid truck routing system. YOu should be consulting your Atlas and reading all the road signs. If you put to much faith in the GPS you will end up screwing yourself. Just take a look at Utube for lost truck videos.
