So I had a thought today. Say I buy a pickup truck that's runs on diesal. Ok I'm a lease operator I get fuel discounts at pilots. Plus fuel is tax deductible. Say I carry a couple 5 gallon jugs under my bed and when I fill up my big rig I fill those up. When I come home I'd drop those 5 gallon jugs in my pickup. Do pickups that run diesal run on #2 diesal? So in a way I could basically I'd get cheap fuel for my personal vehicle. Isn't this a great idea. Heck if you were a company driver you could do that and get free fuel but that would be illegal.

Heck yeah, those savings will more than justify the cost of going and buying a diesel p/u. :)

Seems like a lot of work just save a couple bucks on buy diesel for a pickup truck. Plus woring about any spilling and your truck would smell like diesel. Plus not sure how the D.O.T would look on having a couple 5 gallon things of diesel lose under bunk.

    2 problems with your scenario.
#1 you can get fuel cheaper than the inflated then discounted price given to trucking companies by the major chains.
#2 you would be paying more because commercial vehicle fuel is taxed at a higher rate than diesel for personal vehicles.

If you are an O/O the extra gallons would lower your fuel mileage and make your IFTA cost you more.

Just siphon some out and fill your pick up when you get home on the company’s dime!

Buy a $60,000 pickup to save a few bucks a fill up, sounds like a money maker to me.

I'm absolutely certain this constitutes fraud. I'm just not sure how yet
