And maybe make $65,000 a year and never be home when you could make $95,000 and be home weekly.

    Where do you make $95k?

I was good with how much I made at GP. I drove 6 to 8 weeks, took off a week or so. I loved the loads. Really loved the 2000+ milers, where I wouldn't have anyone to answer to for 4 days. I'm a west coast junky!

Work for SHERWIN WILLIAMS and will be at least 96,000 this year. And have been home every Friday night through Monday morning all year. It can be a lot of work but you get paid

The salary is nice, and it takes away the worry of losing income if you’re stuck for days by bad weather, breakdowns, etc. it’s great having a steady paycheck rather than having a good check one week and then a small amount of chump change the next after coming off home time. Especially with ELD’s coming about.

Very surprised to hear the part about reduced miles over there. I was a Holland company Driver a couple years ago, and that never happened, so I assumed a similar situation at GP. Hopefully it wasn't the dreaded bias towards giving loads to the company drivers before the OO. If it isn't too much to ask, what was your average rate? At least it stayed up. I'm guessing where you had a big regret was being picky about some loads that were offered too, going by your comments. As long as they at least made some money to get you through hard times

    Around $1.75-1.80 loaded.

I can only guess as to why my miles dropped. I ended up averaging 2400 mi/wk, but that was not enough to get a decent paycheck. Not worth the hassles of lease purchasing.

What's the main lanes for Great Plains? I live in South Georgia. I'm looking for some long west runs.
