i have a Detroit 14l egr. I have a moaning sound or deep growl coming through the exhaust when I let off the accelator at low rpm. Checked air to air for leaks. Sprayed everything down with soapy water. No leaks. No oil leaks in the turbo It’s clean inside. Shaft no play on the intake side. No boost gauge. Got straight pipe so can really hear it at low rpm. Any help appreciated

You check your exhaust? All the pipes. I had same issue and it was an exhaust clamp had rusted through..

I’ll check it but it looks clean. Usually get soot stains with an exhaust leak

I’m saying I don’t see any soot stains on the exhaust from turbo out the pipe. With an egr motor there going be a lot soot

Put a muffler on it.........Dont you know that straight pipes are loud?

Seriously though. Do you have a good flex pipe on at the engine? Is the exhaust rigid mounted anywhere that it should be isolated? Look carefully for anywhere the exhaust or engine may be hard contacting the frame or the cab and transmitting noises........ engine mounts, trans mounts ect.......
Adding isolators to the exhaust may help deaden the noise. These are all areas I would be digging for the type of noise you are describing.

Yea but they sound good It was doing it before I took the muffler off. Every thing else is oem parts as far as flex pipe locations. It’s definetly coming from the turbo going through the exhaust. I’m thinking actuator sticking or wastegate. I don’t have any codes so I’d think if it was the actuator or wastegate I be getting high exhaust pressure or high exhaust temp code
