Fellow Drivers,I am 49 yrs old and have been driving OTR for 5 yrs now.Prior to this,I worked construction jobs and concrete work etc. My informal question is this,-if there were gyms in truck stops how many of you reading this would take advantage of this service, whether it be the treadmills, free weights, machines or whatever..? Like many drivers,I have put on excess weight, and although I flatbed, the excess lbs still come on...Just wondering guys (and gals)as if there is positive feedback, and after I win the lottery,I promise to start a chain of gym truckstops..(LOL) HAVE A GOOD 1 AND STAY SAFE....Bumpy![]()

There was an attempt to put gyms in a few truckstops years ago. I forget the name but they were in Pilot N. Little Rock and Petro W.Memphis. There were a few other places but i forget where. They had them set up in double wide trailers on premises. They lasted about 3 months and went away cuz drivers wouldn't use them.

Unfortunately, the demand just doesn't seem to be there. There's a small number of us who would love to see workout rooms and healthy food choices, but we're a minority. Our best option is just to provide it for ourselves, i.e. bring workout gear and healthy food with us in our trucks.

hell i would love for there to be gyms....i always feel good after a good workout...last time i was at the Petro in Gadsden, AL...they had a gym in their building

Gyms in truck stops are a good idea. Yeah, a couple Pilots had 'em awhile back, but I think they were operated by an outside vendor, so, consequently they needed to make a certain amount of $$$. What they need to do is have a gym inside the building staffed by a couple chicks wearing hot pants etc. Guarantee you, they'll have customers. Would also like to see truckstop with a dentist.

I think thats a great idea, I mean we sit and drive for hours, stop and eat and drive hours more. So its evident we are going to pick up weight. A gym would be nice to stay healthy. But lets start by just getting clean showers
ChainBinder Thanks this.
